To The East

A burnished star illuminates
A soulless sky dyed midnight blue,
It tracks a path from dusk to dawn
To slowly hurtle out of view.
The fog obscures the rising sun,
The weather had been forecast fair,
The smog burns off, revealing just
A blinding brightness hard to bear.
